The phrase "busy beaver" is often applied to children because they are always moving, investigating, and working on something. Taurus represents the stage of growth from 2 1/2 to five years, and thus the beaver symbolizes the "business" of life that small children engage in so single-mindedly.
"Beaver is the doer in the animal kingdom. Beaver medicine is akin to water and earth energy, and incorporates a strong sense of family and home. ... Take a look at the power of working and attaining a sense of achievement. To accomplish a goal with others involves working with the group mind. Group mind constitutes harmony of the highest order, without individual egos getting in the way."
- Jamie Sams
"The Growing Time is the second of the spring cycles and marks the period when grasses develop and spread rapidly to transform the landscape. ... People with birthdays during the Growing Time are the 'earthiest', or most materialistic, of those born during the thre spring cycles, and possess an impetus towards growth and expansion in material directions."
- Kenneth Meadows
"Beaver reminds us that we have to act on our dreams to make them a reality. When it shows up, it is a time for action. bever can show you how to construct wonderful dreams.
"[The beaver's] skill at building may even link those with this totem to the ancient and mystical Masons. A study of the Masonic tradition may open many doors."
- Ted Andrews
Beaver is a member of the Turtle Clan, and is happy both on land and in the water. Beaver exemplifies Turtle Clan qualities of being methodical, practical, and down-to-earth. During the early spring you can find your strength in the growth you see around you. Walking outside and observing life is revitalizing and just plain enjoyable, something Taurus can appreciate.
