The Fours

The nature of the Emperor is expressed in each of the elements by the Fours. The Fours provide glimpses of the aspects of your inner unity and wholeness, composed as it is of four components of consciousness – thinking, feeing, sensation, and intuition.

The Fours present a look at different types of manifestation through human effort. They represent, in a sense, four kinds of “done deals.” The essence of each of the Fours lies in the four areas of human consciousness.

Wands

The Four of Wands reflects the capacity to complete plans through the use of intuition and inspiration. People are inspired to cultivate crops, to build homes and other structures, and to define the world on the basis of what they can imagine and achieve.

Coins

The Four of Coins reflects the capacity to gain wealth in the material world. When this card appears, it suggests that you have achieved a goal, or are very near to achieving a material goal you have set for yourself. Of course, if you then hold on with all your might, you cannot achieve anything new because your effort is already directed. When you see this card, think about the possibility of sharing, or releasing some of what you have earned.

Swords

The Four of Swords represents the capacity for concluding a conflict. Using intellect, you can discover the logical basis for difficult situations and help to resolve them using reason. In the process, you often identify something in your own prior actions that you will not choose to repeat in the future.

Cups

The Four of Cups represents the capacity for increase. You have some full cups and you foresee the possibility of filling more of them. When you see this card, expect that your emotional desires will be manifested and fulfilled.
